Baseball: Jefferson wins thriller over Union County

BLAIRSVILLE -- Jefferson remained undefeated in Region 8-AA after taking a 6-4 win over Union County on the road Wednesday.

Max Ford earned the win for the Dragons (10-3, 4-0 Region 8-AA) going 6 2/3 innings fanning 12 and scattering six hits. Micah Carpenter got the save getting the final out with the bases loaded.

Jefferson took a 1-0 lead in the second on a solo home run by Jake Franklin. Union County tied the game in the third and took a 3-1 lead in the sixth on a RBI double by Lane Everett and an error scoring Everett.

The Dragons answered with five runs in the top of the seventh, highlighted by RBI hits from Carpenter, Franklin, and Hanon Price.

The Panthers scored one run in the seventh and had the bases loaded but could not get the game-tying hit.
