This week, Clarkesville Main Street and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs will hold a Rebuilding Resource Seminar at Clarkesville City Hall from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday.
According to Clarkesville Main Street Manager Mary Beth Horton, the purpose of the seminar is to offer resources and assistance from a variety of state and local agencies to local business and property owners, as well as information for displaced employees.
"Right now, business and property owners, as well as their employees, have been inundated with information and they are quite overwhelmed," Horton said. "They don't really know where to begin, what their options are, or who to even talk to. We wanted to bring all of the resources to them, in one place, so they could come and get all the information they need, ask whatever questions they have, and leave feeling a little more comfortable than they did before."
Agencies and organizations confirmed to participate include:
* Georgia Department of Community Affairs - Community Finance Division, Design Services, SSBCI (Small Business Credit Initiative), Downtown Development Revolving Loan Fund, and HomeSafe Georgia (mortgage assistance);
* Georgia Mountains Regional Commission - Workforce Development, Revolving Loan Fund;
* Rapid Response Team/Georgia Department of Labor;
* Small Business Development Center.
"In times of crisis like this, it is essential that the leaders representing the various agencies and organizations work together with those who were affected to restore the damages," Horton said. "On behalf of the entire city, we are pleased to cooperate with the state on this seminar to help get Clarkesville back on the road to recovery."
All affected business and property owners, as well as employees, are encouraged to attend, Horton said.
