CLEVELAND - The Cleveland child airlifted for medical care after a bicycle wreck Thursday night is home from the hospital.

"The little girl was released from the hospital Friday," said Cleveland Fire Chief Ricky Pruitt. "She received over 50 stitches in her head, and sustained other minor cuts and bruises, along with a mild concussion."

The 5-year-old child was involved in a bicycle wreck about 6:15 p.m. Thursday, with a medical helicopter launched around 6:30 p.m. to transport her. That helicopter landed in the back driveway to Walmart in Cleveland, where the child was transferred from a White County ambulance to the aircraft.

She was taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite.

Pruitt said the little girl "only remembers having a bicycle accident. The parents advised that doctors were amazed that she did not sustain more injuries than she had."
