Tennis: Chestatee sweeps Forsyth Central

GAINESVILLE -- Chestatee freshman Barron King came from a set down and survived a third set 10-point tiebreak to take a 5-7, 6-1, (10-7) victory over Forsyth Central's Cameron Broeker at No. 3 singles and give the War Eagles a 3-2 team victory Thursday.

The War Eagles' Juan Carrion defeated Forsyth Central's Trent Callon 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 1 singles match, and Chestatee's No. 2 doubles team of Logan Gruenenfelder and Ethan Kapiloff won 6-3, 6-4 over the Bulldogs' Logan Davisson and Hugo Marquez.

Forsyth Central won the No. 2 singles point and No. 1 doubles point as Riley Snow defeated the War Eagles' Tyler Burgess in a hard fought 7-5, 7-5 match and Cameron Hand and Mike Fink beat Chestatee's Reed Johnson and Austin Passmore 6-4, 3-6, 6-0.

In the girls match, the War Eagles swept Forsyth Central 5-0 winning all five matches in straight sets and dropping just 14 games on the night to improve to 4-2 on the season.

The Lady War Eagles Lily Kiang defeated Peyton Langford 7-5, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Fernanda Arcaraz won the No. 2 singles match 6-1, 6-1 over Forsyth Central's Kirsten Lindstrom, and Chestatee's Adasery Osorno beat Katrina Solodky 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

Haley King and Grace Brown won at No. 1 doubles 6-0, 6-1 over the Lady Bulldogs' Nellie Harrison and Catie Moye, and Chestatee's Tyler Bennett and Natalie McNitt defeated Heidi Fell and Ally Schneible 6-0, 6-4 in the No. 2 doubles match.

Chestatee returns to Region 8-AAAA play on Tuesday traveling to Madison County.
