GAINESVILLE - The Hall County Board of Commissioners decided Wednesday to look at the proposed energy agreement as two separate issues: one involving the contract with Siemens and the other involving the contract with Pepco.

Commissioner Billy Powell made the motion to approve a pared-down version of Siemen's proposal, which included lighting retrofits, HVAC upgrades, etc. for a total cost of roughly $3 million that would save the County approximately $267,000 per year. That proposal would also allow the county to recoup its initial investment after roughly eleven years (rather than at a cost of $6.6 million and a 15-year payback period as was outlined in the original proposal).

After much discussion, commissioners voted unanimously to table their vote on the Siemens contract until their next meeting, March 27. They also voted unanimously to do the same for the Pepco contract, tabling any discussion on that item until the the same meeting.
