OAKWOOD -- The West Hall boys soccer team held its nerve to win a penalty kick shootout over Buford on Tuesday in Oakwood.

The two teams played out a 1-1 draw through regulation and overtime, sending the game into penalties where the Spartans converted all five spot kicks compared with just two for the Wolves.

West Hall goalkeeper Cesar Villa saved two of Buford's penalty attempts. Meanwhile, Cesar Villa, Ricci Castruita, Jordan Moreno, Issac Castruita and Samuel Coto each converted penalties for West Hall.

The Spartans (5-2-2, 1-0 Region 7-AAA) took the lead in the first half of regulation via a corner kick. Riccardo Castruita served up the corner from the right side, and Jordan Moreno found the back of the net with a header for the score.

Later in the half, Buford (2-5-1, 0-1) tied it up on a close-range shot that squeezed past the near post.

West Hall will play again on March 18 at Fannin County.

Buford, meanwhile, will play host to North Hall on March 18.
