53 youth, 77 animals compete in JEMC's Quality Beef Show competition

JEFFERSON - Representing Future Farmers of America chapters (FFA) and 4-H clubs from Banks, Barrow, Franklin, Jackson and Madison counties, 53 young people gathered to compete for awards, ribbons and cash prizes in the 2014 Jackson Electric Membership Corporation's 45th Annual Quality Beef Show.

Together, they entered 77 animals in the competition held at the Jackson County Comprehensive High School Livestock Center in Jefferson.

A steer shown by Wyatt Chandler, Jackson County 4-H, won Grand Champion Steer honors, and another shown by Bella Brook Chandler, Jackson County 4-H, won Reserve Champion Steer.

In showmanship, Payton Jackson, Banks County 4-H, won the Novice category; Austin Ertzberger, Franklin County FFA, won the Junior; Cindy Cooper, Jackson County FFA, won Intermediate; and Macy Seagraves, Jackson County 4-H, won Senior.
