Attorneys want to delay sentencing in loud music killing

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) The attorneys for a Florida man convicted of attempted murder for shooting at three teens after an argument over loud music will ask a judge to delay his sentencing on those convictions until he can be retried on charges that he murdered 17-year-old Jordan Davis.

A hearing is scheduled for Monday. Michael Dunn's lawyers say he cannot speak on his own behalf until the Davis charge is resolved. Prosecutors say there's no provision under state law to delay the sentencing, scheduled for March 25.

Dunn was convicted last month of three counts of attempted second-degree murder for shooting at three of Davis' friends who were inside an SUV. But the jury hung on a first-degree murder charge for Davis' death. He was from Marietta, Ga.

Dunn faces 60 years in prison.
