GAINESVILLE -- The Chestatee girls soccer team held off a furious second half rally by Walnut Grove to take a 3-2 win Friday night in Region 8-AAAA action.

The Lady War Eagles (5-2-0, 2-0-0 Region 8-AAAA) built a 2-0 halftime lead off break away goals from Hope Baxter and Alyssa Yarck.

Walnut Grove (4-3-0, 2-1-0) chipped away at the lead with a goal in the 25th minute to trim the lead to 2-1. The Lady Warriors eventually tied the game with 7:43 left in the game.

Chestatee's Nina Burgess, however, broke from the mid-field and scored what would be the game-winning goal with 1:56 left.

The Lady War Eagles had to fight off two corner kicks in the final minute to hold on for the win.

Chestaee next will play host to Stephens County on Tuesday.
