Hall County Commissioner Craig Lutz qualified Thursday to run for a seat on the state Public Service Commission and Paul Wayne Godfrey became the latest Hall County School Board candidate.

Lutz, who is from Flowery Branch, plans to run in the May 20 Republican Primary for the post now held by Lauren "Bubba" McDonald of Clarkesville, who qualified earlier this week. Another challenger, Douglas Kidd, has also qualified. McDonald and Kidd are also running as Republicans.

Godfrey, meanwhile, as expected, qualified for the at-large seat on the school board, which is now held by Bill Thompson, who qualified earlier this week to seek re-election. Both are Republicans.

Qualifying ends at noon Friday for state, federal, and local races statewide.
