AUBURN - Barrow County fire investigators and Auburn police have made an arrest in a Wednesday afternoon arson case.

The fire broke out around 5 p.m. Wednesday at the three-unit apartment building in the 30 block of Old Church Road in Auburn.

Barrow County Fire Lt. Scott Dakin said Engine 4, Truck 7, Med 4 and Battalion 1 responded to the incident. Firefighters made an interior attack and were able to stop the fire from spreading, according to Dakin. He said all three apartments suffered heavy damage as a result of the fire.

"Our fire investigation team was called out to investigate and determined it was an intentional human act," said Dakin.

Auburn police investigators became involved and later in the evening were able to make an arrest in the case.

Sgt. Diana Campbell with the Auburn Police Department identified the suspect as Moises Rojas, age 20. Rojas has been charged with arson. Campbell said investigators were not ready to release other details in the case.

Five adults and three children were displaced as a result of the fire.
