CLEVELAND - The driver whose sport utility vehicle overturned while fleeing from the Georgia State Patrol near Cleveland early Saturday now faces charges.

Sgt. 1st Class Chad Johnson of GSP Post 6 in Gainesville said 21-year-old Brandon Nash of Sautee is charged with fleeing, a seatbelt violation, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving, driving on the wrong side of the roadway, no license, slick tires, and failure to stop at stop sign.

Nash's Kia Sportage ignored a GSP road check at Georgia Highway 384 (Duncan Bridge Road) and Georgia Highway 255 around midnight, Johnson said.

After fleeing onto Georgia Highway 115, the SUV overturned several times near Shenandoah Drive, ejecting Nash and an 18-year-old female seated behind him. Neither was wearing a seatbelt.

Both were hurt, along with two other passengers in the vehicle.
