CUMMING - The Forsyth County Board of Education is seeking input from the public as it begins the search for a new schools superintendent.

The current superintendent, Dr. Buster Evans, announced last week that he is retiring from public education at the end of the current school year. On Thursday, Gov. Nathan Deal announced that Evans will be joining the state Department of Corrections as assistant commissioner for Education. That appointment is effective July 1.

In announcing that it is seeking guidance from the public in the search for a replacement for Evans, members of the school board said they are specifically looking for assistance in "developing a leadership profile" that will be used in the search. An online survey will be used and school officials say all responses will be kept confidential. The survey will be available, at the link below, until March 28.
