GHS FCCLA competes in Region STAR Events Competition

GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville High School FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) competed in Region STAR Events Competition recently in Loganville. <br /> <br /> Savannah Hecht won 1st place at region with her Food innovations Event "Easy Zucchini Muffins" and she will advance to state competition this month.<br /> <br /> Iridian Pacheco and Sara Brown won 1st place at region competition with their Environmental Ambassador project "Efforts to Protect Drinking Water" and they also advance to state competition.<br /> <br /> Areli Albarran and Gabriela Martinez won 1st place at region competition with their Life event planning event "Quiero mis Quince" and both will go on to state competition.<br /> <br /> Alexandra Salgado and Lexis Wallace automatically advanced to state in their Advocacy event "Raising Awareness of the Effects of Alcohol and Drug Use on Maternal and Fetal Health and Nutrition."<br /> <br /> Sammy Lara and Alondra Casanova automatically advanced to state in their Advocacy event "Bringing an End to Homelessness in Gainesville and Hall County"<br /> <br /> Mikyria Maeweathers won 3rd place at region competition with her Teach and Train event from Centennial and she earned a silver medal.<br />
