Posted 7:10PM on Friday 28th February 2014 ( 10 years ago )
WINDER - The City of Winder has decided to contract all of the tasks handled by their Public Works Department to a private firm, according to the city's website.

ESG Operations, Inc. will take over Public Works responsibilities effective March 1st.

Mayor David Maynard said, "I expect ESG to be able to deliver enhanced services to our citizens through their management experience and ability to access additional resources for the City of Winder in an efficient and effective manner."

Those tasks include street maintenance, storm water management, debris collection and general public works.

The website said the city had found doing those functions themselves was cost-prohibitive.

The city said that effected employees would be offered positions with ESG.
