PEACHTREE CITY - The National Weather Service is calling for a chance of wintry precipitation overnight Friday and early Saturday across eight counties in our area.

Weather service forecasters said a quick moving storm system will move across the region, producing light accumulations of snow or ice. During the wintry mix, temperatures are expected to drop near or below freezing.

The special weather statement includes Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Pickens, Dawson, Lumpkin and White counties.

Forecasters said snow accumulations were expected to be less than a half inch. A light glaze of ice is also possible on elevated surfaces, according to the weather service.
