GAINESVILLE - The first ten inmates to be a part of Hall County's Re-entry Accountability Court Transition (REACT) program are set to arrive at the Hall County Correctional Institution Tuesday.

The REACT program will consist of substance abuse treatment, as well as educational and vocational training. Participants will also receive on-the-job experience while working with local businesses.

The purpose of the program, county officials say, is to help inmates find gainful employment in an effort to reduce recidivism rates.

"We know over years of experience that the number one factor (in) recidivism is, in fact, lack of a job," Hall County Warden Walt Davis told the county public information TV program Hall County Connection. "So we hope that by providing jobs for these inmates in the local community that we can reduce recidivism."
