Tennis: Lady Red Elephants fend off North Hall, 3-2

The Gainesville High girls tennis team swept the singles points to notch a 3-2 win over North Hall on Thursday in Gainesville.

The Lady Red Elephants (2-1) won all three singles matches in straight sets, while North Hall swept the doubles points.

Gainesville's Brinkley Frankum defeated Natalie Oxley 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Katherine Wright took out Kelsey McCray 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2 singles. Georgia Summer also picked off Tricia Dial 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 doubles.

North Hall's Hannah Gibson/Kaitlyn Smith defeated Gainesville's Morgan Mercer/Sally Callahan 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, while Courtney Barnes/McKay Higginbotham edged out Suzanne Smith/Haley Frankum 6-4, 6-1 (3-7).

Gainesville will play host to Salem on Tuesday at Longwood Park in Gainesville.
