At NGTC: Biology faculty increases; distinction for Gulle; PBL students headed to state competition

CLARKESVILLE - Dr. Reg Hay, biology and chemistry instructor at North Georgia Technical College for the last six years, has decided it's time to slow down a bit. <br /> <br /> In the Fall, Dr. Hay will be switching from full-time instruction to adjunct faculty member and at the same time, two new faculty members will be added to not just fill the gap, but expand the college offerings. <br /> <br /> Hay began her career at NGTC as a volunteer at the Adult Learning Center in White County and then transitioned into the full-time faculty position in the General Studies Department. <br /> <br /> Hay's switch to teaching part time and an increasing demand from students for biology classes mandated the need for more full-time faculty in that department. <br /> <br /> Laurie Marsolo and Jan Thompson have been added to the roster.<br /> <br /> Marsolo has been an adjunct faculty member with NGTC since 2011 and began teaching biology full time in January 2014. <br /> <br /> Thomson began her career with NGTC teaching allied health courses on the Currahee Campus while ministering as a hospital chaplain at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. <br /> <br /> GULLE IS MASTER PHOTOGRAPHER<br /> <br /> Jeff Gulle was recognized for superior image making and photographic service by Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and has earned the title of Master Photographer. <br /> <br /> Gulle is employed by North Georgia Technical College as a photography instructor. He is the current PPA Photographer of the Year and is a certified professional photographer and a photographic craftsman. Jeff lives in Sautee with his wife and two children.<br /> <br /> PBL STUDENTS HEADED TO STATE COMPETITION<br /> <br /> The Georgia Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) North District Conference held a competition in Milledgeville February 21, for colleges across North Georgia. Six North Georgia Technical College PBL members competed there and will now be heading to the State Competition that will be held in Atlanta, Georgia, April 11-13. <br /> <br /> Mia Sharpton of Clayton placed first in Human Resource Management and she placed third in Accounting Principles. Emily Sullens of Alto placed second in Accounting Principles and also second in Hospitality Management. Susie Berry of Cleveland placed third in Job Interview while Lachelle Mans of Demorest placed fifth in Human Resource Management and competed in Parliamentary Procedures. Ryan Norton and Dennis Murphy both competed in Hospitality Management as well as Parliamentary Procedures and Accounting Principles respectively.
