CUMMING - A 3-year-old boy is dead and authorities are questioning a person of interest in the case, according to Forsyth County Sheriff's Deputy Doug Rainwater.

Deputies were called to a home in the Bridgewater subdivision off Brown's Bridge Road just before 11 a.m. The boy's mother was administering CPR when authorities arrived, according to Rainwater. The child was taken to Northside Hospital Forsyth, where he was pronounced dead.

Rainwater said when authorities returned to the home to investigate, they discovered a man who was supposed to be babysitting the child had left the premises.

"We activated our SWAT team, we cordoned off the wooded area beside the subdivision and after about 20, 25 minutes, we were able to locate this babysitter," said Rainwater.

At this time, investigators are not saying how the child died, nor have they released the names of those involved.
