Class AAAAAA playoffs: North Forysth girls rally past C. Gwinnett, advances to Sweet 16

CUMMING -- Region 6-AAAAAA champ North Forsyth had three players in double figures in taking a 63-49 victory over Central Gwinnett Friday night in the first round of the Class AAAAAA state playoffs.

Lochlain Corliss and Caroline Bowns each poured in 22 points to pace the Lady Raiders (27-2). Avery Scarbrough added 10 points for North Forsyth.

Corliss also had six rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Bowns had seven rebounds and two assists.

North Forsyth next will take on Duluth, which knocked off Lassiter 55-31, in the second round.

It wasn't as easy as the score may indicate. Central Gwinnett led 15-13 after the first quarter and took a 30-29 into halftime. The Lady Raiders turned things around in the second half.

North Forsyth used a 16-11 third quarter grab the lead and then pulled away in the fourth quarter with an 18-8 run over the final eight minutes.

Alexandra Frazier had a huge night for the Lady Black Knights. The junior had 33 points, going 10-for-31 from the field, including four 3-pointers. She was also 9-of-12 from the free throw line.

The rest of the Central Gwinnett team was just 6-of-18 from the field and shot just three free throws.
