A 27-year-old woman was killed and seven crew members were injured Thursday when the train struck as they were shooting footage for ``Midnight Rider,'' a film based on the life of singer Gregg Allman.
Wayne County Sheriff's detective Joe Gardner said Friday that the crew had permission to be on private property next to the tracks. But he said CSX Railroad told investigators the crew had no permission to work on the tracks themselves. Gardner says the tracks were littered with debris from the crew's equipment, including what looked like a mattress.
Trespassing onto railroad tracks is a misdemeanor under Georgia law.
