JEFFERSON - Jackson County School System has announced plans to make up some of the time lost to snow and bitterly cold weather this year.

The details are in a message from Supt. April Howard, which is posted on the school system's website:

"Special thanks each of you who provided feedback through the district survey.

Based on the results, Jackson County Schools will make up missed instructional days (February 11, 12, 13) by adding 20 minutes to the instructional day beginning on Monday, February 24 through Friday, May 9, 2014 (Elementary Day 7:50-2:50, Middle 7:50-3:40, High 7:50-3:25).

Bus transportation will be adjusted to meet these changes; notification of changed pick up times will be provided in the upcoming week.

Friday, May 23, 2014 will be the last day of school for students.

In the event that the State Board of Education and/or Governor grant additional forgiveness days, we will immediately notify parents of any change to these plans. Thank you for your support and understanding as we attempt to make the best decisions for students and families."
