Soccer round-up: GHS boys open with win; Lakeview girls bounce North Hall

DAWSONVILLE -- The Gainesville boys soccer team blanked Dawson County 4-0 on Tuesday in Dawsonville.

Allis Nunez, Ricardo Gomez, Christian Ochoa, and Jose Cruz Garcia each scored for the Red Elephants (1-0), while Gomez added two assists. Roberto Nunez and Diego Poreas also recorded one assist each.

Gage Turner and Jiovani Ortiz combined for the shutout in goal.

Gainesville plays at Lumpkin County on Friday.


LAKEVIEW ACADEMY GIRLS 5,
NORTH HALL 1


Carmen Wagner scored a hat-trick, while Carly Kenny and Alison Schultz each scored once, as the Lady Lions dominated the second half against Lady Trojans in Northeast Georgia Mountains Cup play on Tuesday in Gainesville.

Tristian Bailey scored on a penalty kick for North Hall.

The score was knotted 1-1 at halftime.


LAKEVIEW ACADEMY BOYS 6,
RIVERSIDE MILITARY 0


Andrew Bell notched three goals and had an assist as the Lions clawed Riverside on Tuesday in the Northeast Georgia Mountains Cup, played at Chestatee High. The win was also Lakeview's season opening contest.

Nathan Zottnick also scored twice on free kicks, and Cameron Kayne had one goal.

Dalton Snyder recorded the shutout with three saves in goal.

Dustin Snyder also had an assist.

Lakeview will take on West Hall at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Chestatee.


EAST HALL BOYS 3,
LUMPKIN COUNTY 0


The Vikings opened their season with a shutout win in Dahlonega on Tuesday.

Adolfo Adame, Eric Medel and Leo Toledo bagged the goals for East Hall (1-0). Assists came from Leo Toledo, Jason Mendoza and Brandon Bonilla.

Manny Andrade also had six saves in goal to preserve the shut-out.

The Vikings take on Central Gwinnett at 6 p.m. Thursday (though weather could postpone the game to Friday).


LUMPKIN COUNTY GIRLS 6,
EAST HALL 0


The Lady Indians blanked the Lady Vikings in their season opener.

No other information was provided.


BUFORD GIRLS 7,
APALACHEE 2


Elexa Bahr bagged a hat-trick, scoring three goals and adding an assist, as the Lady Wolves cruised to the win on Tuesday.

Brie Smith also scored twice for Buford (2-0) and added an assist, while Brooke Horist and Ambria Shutts each scored once. Shutts also added two assists

Izzy Ortiz earned two saves in goal.
