GAINESVILLE - Sponsors of the U.S. Senate debate in Gainesville Saturday have made arrangements for an expected overflow crowd at Brenau University's Pearce Auditorium.

As of mid-afternoon Monday, they said a few tickets remained for the event and they advised people planning to attend to come early because ticketed seat reservations cannot be guaranteed after 5:50 for the 6:00 start of the debate.

Meanwhile, for those unable to reserve a ticket, Brenau University is planning to have a live feed of the debate available in the Brenau Downtown Center.

After the debate, a "meet and greet" will be held for the candidates and the public at the Brenau Downtown Center. In addition, a straw poll will be taken at that time.

The Hall County Republican Party, which is one of the sponsors of the debate, is also soliciting volunteers to help with both events. If you are a Hall GOP or Ninth District GOP Member who would like to volunteer, contact Stacy Hall, Vice Chair for Events, at [email protected].
