UNG to hold financial aid help program

DAHLONEGA - As college costs have risen due to reductions in state funds, more students are seeking financial aid, but often need help finding those resources.

On Friday, February 21, the University of North Georgia will be holding free events as part of College Goal Sunday on the Dahlonega and Gainesville campuses to help students and their families complete the forms required to apply for federal financial aid.

High school seniors who will be entering college in 2014-15 are encouraged to receive help in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The FAFSA is the federally-required form for all students seeking financial aid, including federal and state grants, loans, and work-study programs. Financial aid experts will be available at these events to guide students and their families through completing the FAFSA, submitting the application and answering any questions.

While not all students will qualify for money that doesn't have to be repaid, every student is eligible for a federal loan. After completing their applications, UNG students can enter to win an iPad, and grocery and gas cards will be raffled off to participating families.

The event will be held on UNG's Dahlonega and Gainesville campuses from 4 to 7 p.m.
