Department spokeswoman Hilda Sorrow said officers downtown have reported large pieces of ice sliding from rooftops onto the sidewalks below. No injuries have been reported.
Sorrow says pedestrians should be aware that slabs of ice sliding from rooftops could become more of a problem as temperatures begin rising throughout the area.
City of Atlanta officials have also said pedestrians should be aware of icy conditions on structures their walking near or under, as falling ice and snow could cause serious injuries.
Atlanta officials are also urging motorists to remove snow and ice from their vehicles before driving.
