ATLANTA (AP) Emergency responders say at least seven people have been hospitalized in sledding accidents throughout Georgia.

Cherokee County Fire spokesman Tim Cavender says a 7-year-old boy in Ball Ground suffered a fractured skull after hitting a tree in his backyard Wednesday afternoon.

Cleveland Fire Chief Ricky Pruitt says four people in their late teens and early 20s were inside a kayak when it crashed into a pole. One of the victims suffered leg injuries, and a woman who was knocked unconscious in the crash lost several teeth. Two people refused treatment. (See separate story on AccessNorthGA.com.)

Three boys and a man in Forsyth County were also hospitalized in separate crashes. Division Fire Chief Jason Shivers says in one crash, a 17-year-old boy slammed into a fire hydrant with his upper torso and was critically injured.
