Gainesville street crews on 24-hr. schedule; city halts garbage, recycling pick-ups

GAINESVILLE - The City of Gainesville's Street Maintenance Division is operating on a 24-hour schedule for the next 48 hours as the city braces for the second round of this week's expected winter storm punch.<br /> <br /> "We are handling problems as we become aware of them so the gravel/salt mixture is as effective as possible," Public Works Director David Dockery said early Tuesday afternoon.
