HOSCHTON - A motorcyclist was killed Sunday near Hoschton in a collision with a passenger automobile, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Investigating troopers said the crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Georgia 332 at Stone Creek Drive.

Troopers said a 2007 Yamaha XVS11AW being operated by Kenneth Earnest Prater, 53, of Hoschton was traveling west on GA 332 when an eastbound 2000 Toyota Camry began making a left turn onto Stone Creek Drive. The motorcycle struck the passenger vehicle in the right side.

Jackson County emergency responders said the victim was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with critical injuries. Prater died at the hospital as a result of those injuries.

The driver of the passenger car, Jeremy Stone Thompson, 17, of Jefferson, was not injured. GSP said Thompson was charged with failing to yield while turning left and second degree vehicular homicide.
