CLEVELAND - White County, Cleveland, and White County School System officials met Monday morning at the county Emergency Operations Center situation room to get the latest weather update from the National Weather Service and to plan for the weather events for the few days.

They were told by the Weather Service that northeast Georgia will get primarily snow in two different events that will impact the area. A total of six-plus inches of snow could fall across the area and that will impact driving, especially with colder temperatures expected Tuesday night through Thursday morning.

White County Public Safety Director David Murphy said it's better if we just get snow and not ice like some other areas of the state.

Murphy said the county fire stations will be manned when precipitation starts affecting the road conditions. County and city public works crews have been preparing their equipment and crews.

Murphy said arrangements have been made with The Bridge Church in Cleveland to provide shelter should there be major power outages and people need a place to stay.

The National Weather Service said these latest weather events are ever-changing and with new weather models, the amount of snow and or ice could change, but in most cases it's expected to go up rather than down.
