Weather-related closings, schedule changes

UNDATED - Schools, businesses and other community agencies are changing schedules as a major winter weather event continues across north Georgia. AccessNorthGA.com maintains a list of changes based on information sent directly to us by those entities.

The following list will be updated as information becomes available.


PUBLIC SCHOOLS

~Banks County Schools closed Friday.

~Barrow County Schools closed Friday; 12 month employees should report by 10 a.m.

~Dawson County Schools closed Friday.

~Fannin County Schools closed Friday.

~Franklin County Schools closed Friday.

~Gainesville City schools will be closed Friday. 11 and 12 month staff should report at 10:00 am. Gainesville City school will have schools for all staff and students on MONDAY, February 17th. This day was previously designated as a teacher and staff work day. All students should now report on MONDAY.

~Gwinnett County Public Schools closed Friday.

~Habersham County Schools closed Friday for students and staff; 12-month employees report at 10 a.m. or when conditions allow.

~Hall County schools will be closed on Friday. Twelve month employees please report at 10 a.m. or when conditions are safe for travel. As previously announced, Monday, February 17, 2014, which had been on the calendar as a teacher work day, will be a regular school day for students to make up for the January snow day.

~Lumpkin County Schools closed Friday.

~Rabun County Schools closed Friday.

~Towns County Schools delayed two hours Friday.

~White County School students will not have classes Friday; it was already set as a day off for students. Staff is asked to report at 10:00 AM. Students will return to class Monday. Superintendent Dr. Jeff Wilson advises that this coming Monday was scheduled as a holiday, but they will use that as a makeup day as well as March 17th will be a makeup day.

~Union County Schools closed for staff and students. 12-month employees should report by 10 a.m.


PRIVATE SCHOOLS/DAYCARE

~ABC Early Learning Center will delay opening until 10 a.m. Friday.

~The Academy Child Development Center will delay opening until 9 a.m. Friday. Georgia Pre-K will be closed.

~Challenged Child and Friends (Gainesville) will be closed Friday.

~Chattahoochee Christian School in Clermont will be closed Friday. Classes will resume Monday.

~First Baptist Day School, Gainesville (Green St.) will delay opening Friday until 9 a.m.

~The Goddard School in Flowery Branch will delay opening until 9 a.m. Friday.

~Heritage Academy in Braselton is closed Friday.

~Kid's World Christian Child Center on Cresent is closed Friday.

~The Little School in Clarkesville will operate on a 2-hour delay. Classes begin at 10 a.m. Friday.

~Maranatha Christian Academy (McEver Rd) is closed Friday.

~North Georgia Christian school will be closed Friday.

~Oakwood Learning Center on McEver Road opens at 8 a.m. Friday

~Riverside Military Academy will delay opening until 10 a.m. Friday


COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES

~All Brenau University campuses will open at 9:30 a.m. on Friday. All 8 a.m. classes are cancelled. Students, faculty and staff should exercise their personal judgment about the safety of driving conditions in their immediate area.

~Piedmont College, both Athens and Demorest campuses, will reopen at 10 a.m. Friday. Off-campus locations will be subject to the host locations.

~Truett-McConnell College will be closed Friday.

~University of North Georgia will delay opening for all campuses on Friday until 10 a.m. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to exercise their personal judgement about the safety or driving conditions.


CHURCHES


BUSINESSES


~Alto Fabric and Yarn plant will start up at 9:00 a.m. Friday.

~Cottrell, Inc. - Select employees will be contacted by supervisors to report Thursday night. If not contacted, do not report! Cottrell will resume full production with the 1st shift Friday.

~Gainesville Neurology Group will open at 9 a.m. Friday.

~Good News Clinics will be closed Friday-- the Dispensary only will open at 1:00

~Kubota plants in Gainesville and Jefferson will open at 10 a.m. Friday.

~Lanier Federal Credit Union will open at 10:00 am, Friday, Feb. 14th and
remain open until 6:00 pm.

~Legacy Link will be on a 2 hour delay Friday

~The Longstreet Clinic, P.C., will be open on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, with only minor adjustments to our operating hours. TLC's Department of Family Medicine in Oakwood will open at 8:00 a.m. All other TLC departments and locations will open at 8:30 a.m.

~Makita Corp. of America will open at 7 a.m. Friday.

~Makita USA, normal business hours Friday.

~SAPA EXTRUSIONS will delay opening until 10 a.m. Friday. Employees need to allow extra time to get to and from work.

~Specialty Clinics of Georgia-Orthopaedics, Specialty Management Company and Specialty Clinics Spine Intervention will delay opening until 9 a.m. on Friday.

~Tanger Outlets in Commerce will be on a one-hour delay Friday morning for an opening of 10 a.m.

~TenCate Cornelia, Commerce and Jefferson will resume normal operations Thursday at 8 p.m. All operations and offices will be open Friday morning at 8.

~White County Community Thrift Store will be closed Friday.

~YMCA closures:

J. A. Walters Family YMCA - opening at 8 a.m. Friday

Oakwood Family YMCA - opening at 9 a.m. Friday

White County Family YMCA - 10 a.m. Friday



GOVERNMENT AGENCIES

~Banks County government offices will re-open Friday at 10 a.m.

~Cleveland City Hall will reopen at 8 a.m. Friday.

~Dawson County Government will open at 9 a.m. Friday.

~Federal Government Social Security Administration (SSA) offices in Gainesville, Toccoa, and Blue Ridge will have a delayed opening at 10:00 AM on Friday

~Frances Meadows Aquatic Center will delay open to the public at 10 a.m. Staff to report as usual.

~Forsyth County government offices will be delayed until 10 a.m. Friday. The Forsyth County Courthouse and court annex buildings will open at their normal business hours.

~Gainesville City Government reopen at 8 a.m. Friday.

~City of Gainesville garbage and recycling pick-up canceled the rest of the week so employees can assist the street maintenance division.

~City of Gainesville Meals on Wheels will remain closed Friday.

~City of Gainesville Dial A Ride will be closed Friday.

~Georgia Department of Labor offices will open at 10 a.m. Friday.

~Gwinnett County Government's administrative offices will reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday. Delayed openings include all Gwinnett County Tax Commissioner offices, including motor vehicle tag offices, and Gwinnett County courts; these offices will open at 10 a.m.

~Hall County Government Facilities, including the Government Center, Courthouse, community centers, parks and compactor sites will delay opening until 10 a.m. Friday.

~Hall County District 2 Public Health will open at 10AM.

~Hall County Enviromental Health Office will open at 10AM.

~Hall County Health Department will open at 10AM.

~Hall County Children with Special Needs will open at 10AM.

~Jackson County government offices will open Friday at 9 a.m.

~Lula City offices will re-open Friday at 10 a.m.

~VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) will postpone tax preparation services originally scheduled for Thursday evening to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Call 770.503.3336 to reschedule your appointment.

~The White County Water Authority office will delay opening until 10 a.m. Friday.

~White County government offices will re-open Friday with a delayed opening time of 10 a.m.

COMMUNITY MEETINGS & EVENTS

~The Martha Ezzard book-signing and wine-tasting at the Brenau Downtown Center scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday has been postponed until March 20.

~The Thursday performance of the New Shanghai Circus at Pearce Auditorium at Brenau has been rescheduled for Sunday, February 16 at 2:30 p.m. The Arts Council says tickets are still available.
