GAINESVILLE - An accident in Hall County sent five people to the hospital Sunday afternoon.

According to Trooper Jonathan Munger of the Georgia State Patrol, the accident occurred at Georgia 365 at Howard Road as a minivan rolled pulled to the red light outside the Race-Trac gas station. Munger said the driver appeared to let off the brake, failing to yield to the red light. The minivan rolled into the northbound lane, failing to yield to northbound traffic. An oncoming motor home struck the mini-van and overturned, leaving the motor home on its side on the right hand shoulder of the highway in front of the gas station.

A Jeep being towed behind the motor home broke loose, rolled through the gas station parking lot, down an embankment and into a lake. There were no passengers in the Jeep.

Munger said there were five people injured, none with life threatening injuries. He said all five were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. No identities were available at press time.

Munger said the driver of the minivan will be charged with failure to obey a traffic control device.

Units from the Georgia State Patrol, Hall County Sheriff and Gainesville Police Department were on the scene for several hours.
