Girls basketball: Dawson County knocks off Banks County to create third-place tie

DAWSONVILLE -- The Dawson County girls basketball team pulled out a 55-51 win over Banks County on Saturday in Dawsonville to move into a tie with Banks for third place in Region 7-AAA.

The tie will be broken on Sunday in a 7-AAA tournament meeting.

The Lady Tigers (17-8, 8-6 Region 7-AAA) took an early with a 16-8 first quarter and held on for the victory.

Ashley Parker put up a game-high 20 point to pace Dawson County. Haley Burgess also scored 14 points while, Sheyenne Seabolt added 12.

Both teams will play again on Tuesday in the first round round of the Region 7-AAA tournament.
