CORNELIA - Firefighters from three departments worked to extinguish a fire in a church fellowship hall just outside Cornelia Saturday morning.

Habersham County Fire Chief Jeff Cain said the fire was in a 20-foot-by-50-foot building used as a fellowship hall by Bible Landmark Church on Old Cleveland Road.

"The fire ran up a back wall and into the attic, and pretty well burnt the roof off of it," Cain said.

Cain said the building is owned by Dwight Brown.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Firefighters from Habersham County Station 12, Cornelia and Baldwin fire departments responded.
