CLEVELAND - United Way of White County has presented funding to area agencies that serve the county.

During the annual allocation luncheon Thursday afternoon, 16 agencies received part of the $75,000 raised by the organization this past year.

Matt Adams, president of White County United Way, said, "What we work hard for during the whole year for is to be able to come together and recognize the efforts of the 15 to 18 originations that we are able to allocate money to, in hopes that money will go back in White County and make it a better community to live in, raise a family in, work in."

During the year, United Way holds three major fundraising events, the Celebrity Golf Tournament, Hillbilly Hog BBQ Throwdown, and Christmas Festival of Trees, which makes up the majority of the allocation funds.

Adams said they would like to see more people join the convenient payroll deduction program.

"Any organization or employer that has employees in White County that is looking for a way to get involved with our efforts - it may not be in a sponsor standpoint - we can set them up on payroll deduction and they will enhance what we're able to raise from our three events," Adams said.
