GAINESVILLE - A large-scale portrait of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by artist Steve Penley is now on view at the Quinlan in honor of Black History Month.

Penley is one of the most celebrated artists in America and best known for his bold and vibrant paintings of historical and popular icons. He famously painted the Olympic Mural for 11 Alive News Atlanta, the portrait of Mayor Kasim Reed for the 2014 Georgian of the Year award from Georgia Trend Magazine, and the Arts Specialty License Plate for the State of Georgia.

The piece at the Quinlan is on loan from the private collection of Arturo and Phaedra Corso.

It will be on display through Feb. 26.
