GAINESVILLE - A pair of recent cab-driver robberies have led to four arrests in Gainesville.

"The arrest warrants happened approximately earlier this week on both cases," Gainesville Police Corporal Joe Britte said.

In November a female cabbie was assaulted by two men when she dropped them off on Lenox Drive.

She told police that she was put in a head lock and forced to surrender her cell phone and $80 in cash.

"The female taxi driver was attacked violently by one of the subjects, and she did seek medical attention," Britte said.

In that case, Darimus Shunguay Robinson, 23, of Baxley, is charged with one count each of robbery by force and obstruction of an emergency call.

Johnny Vasquez, 22, of Gainesville, is charged with one count of robbery by force.

Britte also said that last month two more men snatched about $200 in cash from a male cab driver as he dropped them off in the Willow Ridge subdivision.

In the latest case, police charged Ranaldo Randolph Crosdale, 23, of Gainesville with one count each of robbery by snatching and a theft/services misdemeanor.

Kelvin Cornelio, 23, of Gainesville, is charged with a theft/services misdemeanor.

There's no word yet on if authorities suspect any of the four in other robberies.

"It's still an open investigation with the criminal investigations division. Since we've brought them in on these warrants, we'll try to see if we can tie it in with any other robberies in the area," Britte added.
