United Way project focuses on reading

GAINESVILLE - Many of life's opportunities depend on one's ability to read. A skilled workforce is the key to a successful economy, but statistics show that only half of young people are developing the skills and knowledge they need to fill tomorrow's jobs. But research shows how to make the greatest impact: to address learning at its earliest most crucial time, prenatal to five.

United Way of Hall County is launched an effort to help equip children with the tools they need to achieve their "happily ever after." The agency will launch this new initiative - "Read, Learn, Succeed" - Tuesday morning, Feb. 11, at a breakfast meeting at 7:30 at the Brenau Downtown Center.

The project will address early learning in the community (prenatal to age five).

The meeting and breakfast are free but registration is required.
