Officers learned from family members that Thuy Phan, 48, and her son, Vincent Phan, 24, who suffers from autism, had been missing since earlier in the day.
Family members began looking for them and Mrs. Phan's oldest son found her vehicle at Rock Springs Park.
Just after 10p.m. a search team located the deceased bodies of Mrs. Phan and her son in a wooded area off of the paved pathway.
Each appeared to have died from a gunshot wound.
Gwinnett County investigators believe that Mrs. Phan shot her son and then turned the gun on herself.
No motive for this apparent murder/suicide has been given. The investigation is ongoing.
