GAINESVILLE - Hall County Schools will be closed for students tomorrow, Friday, January 31, 2014.

Although a previous announcement had gone out to say schools would be open, a water main break has occurred in the Chestatee community affecting several schools. This event coupled with some road still posing hazardous condition in parts of the county has led to the decision to have schools remain closed.

Teachers and staff are to report at 10:00 a.m.

Hall County Schools will resume regular schedules on Monday, February 3, 2014.

With improved road conditions and temperatures in the 50's tomorrow, high school sporting events scheduled for Friday, January 31 and Saturday, February 1 are expected to proceed as scheduled. Updates will be posted Friday, January 31.

According to Hall County Schools Superintendent Will Schofield: "There has just been a water main break in front of Chestatee High School. This line feeds both the high and middle schools. Due to the uncertainty of this situation and marginal roads, there will be no school for students in Hall County tomorrow. All employees are asked to report at 10 am. Call your immediate supervisor if you are not able to make it to school."
