City Manager Donald Anderson said the six-inch main runs along B.C. Grant Road and also affects customers in Alston Ridge, Alpine Court, 441 Bypass, Industrial Boulevard, Baldwin Road, West Airport Road, Georgetown Apartments, and Magnolia Villas Drive, to name a few.
In all, Anderson estimates the outage affects 400 to 500 customers, including all businesses up and down 441 Bypass.
"City crews immediately began working to repair the line, despite the treacherous conditions," Anderson said. "They worked to try and make the repairs until 1:30 a.m. Friday, at which time work stopped due to safety concerns."
Crews will be back on the scene to complete the repairs Friday morning.
Anderson said he hopes those repairs will be made by noon.
"The city apologizes for the inconvenience and wants all of our citizens and businesses affected to know that we are working diligently to restore your water service," Anderson said. "Once the water is restored, you will be under a boil water advisory for 24 to 48 hours."
