Fire Marshal and Deputy EMA Director Scott Cagle said in a press release that Hall County fared better than others, thanks to Road Maintenance Crews and citizens who chose to stay off the roads.
Cagle said during the 48-hour event - from noon on January 28 to noon on the 30th - a total of 1,637 calls were made to all Hall County agencies. 189 of those calls were motor vehicle accidents.
"We were very blessed of those 189 all of those were minor," said Cagle. "There were a couple that involved roll-over vehicles that actually flipped over but all minor injuries and of course no fatalities."
Cagle said in the past 48 hours, only two of the calls were for fires and they were both chimney fires.
"Overall, looking at the whole weather event, it was close to being a nonevent for us, for Hall County Fire Services and the county as a whole just because our resources weren't taxed, as they have been before, as they have during different weather events like that, so we really did fare pretty well," said Cagle.
