ATLANTA (AP) State Department of Human Services officials say inclement weather will delay application processing and the delivery of several statewide assistance programs.

Department spokeswoman Ravae Graham said in a statement that aside from a storm that left the Atlanta area coated with about 2 inches of snow, government closures Wednesday and Thursday would also impact the processing of recent applications for food stamps, Medicaid and more.

Officials say about 130,000 notices to clients of the food stamp program, Medicaid and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families will be delayed.

Graham says most delays are notices about recent changes to their cases and impacted clients will not lose their benefits because of the delay.

Officials say clients can still access their notices online.
