A map of the state provided by the weather service shows 5-to-6 inches were recorded in spotty places in North Georgia, with the largest concentration in Rabun County in the far northeastern corner of the state. (See link below.)
An inch or less was common in the Rome area and southeast corner of the state, in the Waycross area. For most of the state, according to the NWS, the snowfall amounted to one-to-two inches.
In Hall County, the heaviest snowfall was in North Hall, where the map shows amounts of 2-3 inches. It shows 1-2 inches in the rest of the county although there were isolated reports of as much as three inches in parts of West Hall and South Hall.
Forecasters had initially expected the southern and central parts of Georgia would bear the brunt of the storm but by Tuesday morning the forecast had changed and north Georgians were being told to brace for a major storm.
