Boys basketball: Lumpkin County edges out Stephens County

DAHLONEGA -- The Lumpkin County boys basketball team took out Stephens County 62-54 on Friday in Dahlonega.

Lumpkin's Evan Bafile and Johnny Gilreath each hit big 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, and the Indians hit 6-of-7 free throws down the stretch to hold off Stephens County.

Evan Bafile led Lumpkin County with 15 points, all on 3-pointers, while Johnny Gilreath added 11 and Malik Anderson scored 10.

Tavoris Davis added 14 points for Stephens County, while Josh Slate scored 12 and Chris Jones 11.

Lumpkin County (12-9, 3-3 Region 8-AAAA) takes on Lakeview at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
