JOHNS CREEK, Ga. (AP) Police in north Fulton County are searching for a gunman who fired a rifle shot into a home, nearly striking two young children.

Johns Creek police say they've been investigating the shooting since early Thursday morning.

WSB-TV reports that the shooting happened one day after investigators say the victim received a chilling phone call from a man who has been stalking her for a decade.

Johns Creek police Lt. Chris Byers said the bullet could have gone into a bedroom, where two small children were sleeping. The home is on Cauley Creek Drive, in an upscale subdivision just north of the Chattahoochee River.

Byers said the woman who lives there is a former professor at an Alabama college, and that a former student has been stalking her for 10 years.
