DACULA - Gwinnett fire fighters responded to a grass fire in Dacula this afternoon that was later determined to be accidental.

A resident was burning papers when the windy conditions caused some of the paper to ignite a three acre patch of grass behind the 1900 block of Acorn Lane and Adler Tree Way, according to Lt. Colin Rhoden.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in half and hour, using attack hose lines.

Several homes were near the fire, but only two homes sustained some damage. A home on Acorn Lane suffered moderate heat and fire damage; a home on Adler Tree Way suffered minor heat damage. Both homes were checked for potential fire extension.

No injuries were reported and no one was displaced.
