Wednesday's Dawson County vs. White County showdown proved anything but easy -- in fact it was a wire-to-wire thriller, with the Lady Tigers pulling off a 50-47 victory in Dawsonville to keep the race for the No. 2 seed in Region 7-AAA a three-way tie.
Dawson, White County and Banks County are now tied for second in 7-AAA with 5-4 league records, while North Hall is just a half game back at 4-4.
If the Lady Tigers are to come away with that No. 2 spot, it will be because of players like Sheyenne Seabolt.
Seabolt put up 17 points and pulled down 14 rebounds -- notching her 1,000th career point and 500 career rebound in the process -- to lead Dawson County. She was matched by teammate Ashley Parker, who scored 12 and nabbed 13 rebounds, while Karlie Bearden added 11 points and eight rebounds.
The Lady Tigers (14-6) also proved mentally tough on Wednesday, sinking 5-of-5 free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
White County (13-5) trailed 12-8 after the first quarter and 28-24 at the half only to surge ahead in the fourth quarter, yet Dawson County fought back to notch the win.
The Lady Tigers face another key region battle on Friday at East Hall, which has won two straight.
The Lady Warriors, meanwhile, will look to bounce back at home against North Hall.
