Hall County Fire and EMS Chief David Kimbrell says the men - both in their 20s - started firing their guns when they realized they were in trouble.
"Someone in the Garrett Road area did hear them discharging their weapons and actually called 911," said Kimbrell. "[They] also went out to try to assist them in their personal boat."
Kimbrell said emergency crews arrived at the scene just after 6:30 p.m. and the homeowner had pulled both men from the water.
"They both had severe hypothermia, but we believe they will both make a full recovery," said Kimbrell.
